When the Grand Rapids Griffins begin the 2017-18 AHL season, they’ll have a championship banner to put in the rafters of Van Andel Arena.
The Griffins will get to do that on Oct. 6.
Today, the AHL released a few notable dates for the Red Wings’ AHL affiliate, including their Oct. 6 home opener.
Grand Rapids will host their 21st annual New Year’s Eve game on Sunday, Dec. 31.
A mite jamboree, Girl Scout Night and the start of Great Skate Winterfest will all be built around a Saturday, Jan. 20 home game.
A game on Saturday, Feb. 24 will be part of a cross-ice jamboree and a ‘polar plunge’ to benefit the Special Olympics.
Games will also be played on Saturday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, March 3.
The rest of the schedule will be released at a later date.
