The USHL has announced its yearly awards, and one of the most prestigious is going to a member of the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Forward Andrei Svechnikov was named rookie of the year, the league announced today.
In 48 games this year, Svechnikov – the younger brother of Red Wings prospect Evgeny – posted 29 goals and 58 total points, both of which led his Muskegon squad.
The 2000 birth-year player finished sixth in USHL overall scoring. His seven game-winning goals and +29 overall rating were both ranked second among all players of the top U.S. junior league.
