Jimmy Howard is ready to get back to work.
The Red Wings’ goaltender has been assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins for a conditioning stint, as he continues to work towards a return to his team’s NHL line-up after a six-week absence.
Howard has not played in a game since a MCL sprain sidelined him on Dec. 20.
He will start for Grand Rapids tonight in their game against Milwaukee, according to Bob Kaser, the voice of the Griffins.
