Normally, the Detroit Red Wings are ‘ringing bells’ on the ice.
On Friday, they’ll be ringing them off the ice. For a good cause, too.
Dylan Larkin, Luke Glendening, Justin Abdelkader, Darren Helm will join GM Ken Holland, head coach Jeff Blashill and alumni Chris Chelios, Kris Draper and Chris Osgood for the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign at four locations around Metro Detroit.
On Friday, Dec. 16 from 4:00-6:00 p.m., fans can visit the aforementioned Red Wings personnel at their respective locations to help raise money for the Salvation Army’s campaign.
This year marks the Red Wings’ 11th consecutive year the team and Salvation Army have joined forces through the “Red Wings for Red Kettles” initiative, and Holland is serving as the honorary chairman of the 2016 Red Kettle Campaign for the 11th straight year.
The schedule and personnel groups (subject to change):
- Kroger (Northville) – Ken Holland and Jeff Blashill – 425 North Center St., Northville, MI 48167
- Hockeytown Authentics – Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm – 1845 E. Big Beaver Rd., Troy, MI 48083
- Kroger (Royal Oak) – Dylan Larkin and Luke Glendening – 2200 East 12 Mile Rd., Royal Oak, MI 48067
- Kroger (Northville) – Chris Chelios, Kris Draper and Chris Osgood – 17447 Haggerty Rd., Northville, MI 48168
Each of the four groups will compete for bragging rights to see who can raise the most money. Holland and Blashill are defending champs, as they raised more than $6,000 last year.
Fans are asked to make a $10 donation per autograph at each location.
