The Red Wings announced today that Tomas Jurco is getting ready to make his season debut.
Detroit has assigned the 23-year-old forward to the Grand Rapids Griffins for a conditioning stint, as he prepares to return to game action.
Jurco sustained a back injury while training during the off-season that required minor back surgery; he has yet to skate in a game this season.
The 6-foot-2, 188-pound winger has spent the last three seasons with the Wings, accumulating 39 points over 143 regular-season games.
Originally the Wings’ first pick in the 2011 NHL Draft (35th overall), Jurco made his professional debut with Grand Rapids in 2012-13, and helped the Griffins capture the 2013 Calder Cup.
