Rochester native Max Jones given 12-game suspension by OHL

Rochester native Max Jones was given a substantial suspension by the Ontario Hockey League today.

The potential first-round pick in this summer’s NHL Draft has been suspended 12 games, the league announced today, due to an incident in Jones’ London Knights game against Owen Sound.

Jones’ check on Justin Brack of Owen Sound was reviewed for a checking to the head infraction, and the league found conclusive evidence to issue the lengthy suspension.

London is four games into their first-round playoff series with Owen Sound – they hold a 3-1 series lead. Jones, who spent one year with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program before leaving for the OHL, was ranked No. 11 overall among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s 2016 draft midterm rankings.
