Wolverines’ Tyler Motte named state’s MVP by College Hockey, Inc.

In what is becoming a yearly tradition, College Hockey, Inc., is celebrating Hockey Weekend Across America by saluting the best college hockey players from every state.

This year, CHI has picked Tyler Motte as Michigan’s best player – that’s the entire state, not just the school he plays for.

Hard to argue, of course, considering that Motte leads the nation with 27 goals. The St. Clair native, NTDP alum and Chicago Blackhawks draftee has 42 points on the season.

Motte’s linemate J.T. Compher is the best player from Illinois, per College Hockey, Inc. Compher, a NTDP alum, has 43 points this season, 32 of which are assists.

Compher and Motte’s linemate Kyle Connor would be the most notable omission for Michigan – the freshman forward from Shelby Township leads the nation with 48 points.
