The ‘players of the week’ nods are starting to roll out, and Michigan names are getting an early jump on the action.
The USHL announced their weekly stars list today, and one Michigan resident and one Michigan native received honors from the Tier I league.
Muskegon Lumberjacks forward Rem Pitlick, a Plymouth, Minn., native, was named forward of the week today after scoring a goal in three consecutive games, and adding four assists over the weekend. Pitlick, the USHL scoring leader this season, has recorded 15 points in nine games in February, and he currently holds 58 points in 39 games – along with a whopping 30 goals.
Meanwhile, Pitlick’s former teammate Trevor Hamilton – now playing for the Lincoln Stars – was named defenseman of the week. Hamilton, a Grosse Pointe Farms native, recorded one goal and two assists, along with a +4 rating, in two games this week with the Stars. He recorded two assists in a Friday night win, including setting up the game-winning goal, before scoring Saturday night. Hamilton was recently traded from the Lumberjacks to the Stars, and since arriving in Lincoln, the Penn State commit has five points and a +6 rating in six games.
