UPDATE: The Red Wings ended up beating the Dallas Stars 3-2 in overtime, thanks to Pavel Datsyuk. Athanasiou’s final stat line? Two goals on four shots while skating to a plus-2 rating on 11:29 worth of ice time.
By @MichaelCaples –
Andreas Athanasiou doesn’t want to go back to Grand Rapids.
At least, that’s what his performance Monday night is saying.
After scoring the game’s first goal in the Red Wings’ road tilt with the Dallas Stars tonight, Athanasiou scored the Wings’ second goal, as well – in a play fit for the highlight reels.
Describing it wouldn’t do it justice, so watch it below.

Not bad for a guy skating in his 18th career NHL game. Athanasiou now has four goals and seven points in the timeframe, and he’s fitting in well with Brad Richards and Dylan Larkin. With that speed and those hands, he might just be here to stay.
