After a big weekend against rival Michigan State, two of Michigan’s scoring leaders have been recognized by their college hockey conference.

Michigan captain J.T. Compher was named the Big Ten’s first star of the week, while freshman forward Kyle Connor was named the second star, after the two helped the Wolverines to a total of 15 goals in two games against MSU.

On Friday, both Compher and Connor posted two-goal, three-assist outings in a 9-2 victory in East Lansing. The next night, Compher added two assists and Connor scored one goal in a 6-3 win to complete the sweep in Ann Arbor.

Compher has extended his point streak to eight games, and he has 16 points in that span. He ranks No. 3 in the nation with 22 assists.

Connor ranks No. 4 in the NCAA in scoring with 31 points, and he leads all freshmen.
