An impressive week has led to league recognition for Petr Mrazek.
The Red Wings’ goaltender was named the NHL’s second star of the week, it was announced today, after Mrazek posted a 3-0-0 record in games played through Jan. 10.
Mrazek led the Wings to three straight wins in the timeframe (as well as four straight overall), recording a 0.67 goals-against average and .978 save percentage.
He started the week with a 22-save shutout against New Jersey on Jan. 4, then stopped 35 of 36 shots in a 2-1 win over San Jose on Jan. 7. Mrazek concluded the week with a 30-save performance in a 2-1 win over Anaheim.
The 23-year-old native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, holds a 15-8-3 record on the season, along with a .930 save percentage and 2.16 goals-against average.
