It looks like Flint’s head coach has added a few new responsibilities to his job description.
The Firebirds’ staff listing on their official website says that John Gruden is now head coach and general manager of the OHL franchise, and former GM Terry Christensen’s name no longer appears.
Per Jeff Marek of Sportsnet, OHL GMs were notified of the change last night.
Christensen has been the GM of the team since they moved from Plymouth this offseason.
OHL GMs were sent a note late last night from the Flint Firebirds that effective immediately John Gruden will add GM to his title.

MLive.com is also reporting that Gruden will take over GM duties, and that Christensen has been assigned to a different role in the organization.
The Firebirds made international headlines in November when owner Rolf Nilsen fired Gruden and the rest of the coaching staff after a team victory. The team responded by turning in their jerseys and telling management they would no longer play if their coaches weren’t reinstated. You can read more about that here.
