A hat trick and a penalty shot for the game-winning goal is going to get you plenty of attention.

That’s what Dominik Shine did for his Northern Michigan Wildcats Friday night, leading his club to a 4-3 victory at Alabama Huntsville.

Shine scored on three different occasions in the contest, each time putting his team back in the lead. His final goal was the most dramatic, however. While killing a penalty in the game’s final minute, Shine picked off a UAH pass, raced down the ice on a breakaway, and drew a penalty shot when he got tripped up.

He scored on the penalty shot, giving his Wildcats a 4-3 win.

The junior forward has four goals and three assists in 12 games this year.

Lake State’s Torrel named top rookie

Meanwhile, LSSU freshman forward Gage Torrel was named the WCHA’s rookie of the week after a three-point weekend against Alaska.

Torrel, a native on Monticello, Minn., played a crucial role in the Lakers’ first road sweep since Feb. 21-22, 2014. He picked up an assist on the Lakers’ first goal on Friday (they ended up winning 4-2), then scored twice in a 2-0 series-sweeping win on Saturday.
