Brendan Warren had himself quite a game on Saturday, and the Big Ten office took notice.

The Carleton native recorded a pair of assists in a 7-3 rout of Niagara, and he had three shots on goal and a plus-two rating, as well.

Warren, a Coyotes draft pick, has two goals and five assists in his first seven NCAA games. The product of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program was a freshman forward highlighted by coach Red Berenson at the start of the season when asked about his freshman class, and Warren is certainly living up to the hype so far.

Schierhorn named third star

Former Muskegon Lumberjacks goaltender Eric Schierhorn was named the B1G’s third star of the week, after he helped Minnesota to a win and an overtime loss against rival Minnesota State over the weekend.

Schierhorn recorded his second shutout of the season on Friday, stopping all 31 shots he faced en route to a 4-0 victory. The next night, the freshman netminder stopped 28 in the team’s 3-2 OT loss to the Mavericks.
