State titles won’t be decided for months, but bragging rights are already on the line.
This weekend, eight teams will arrive at Novi Ice Arena to compete in the 14th annual Metro High School Invitational.
Four Kensington Lakes Activities Association teams will once again compete against four schools from the Oakland Activities Association. Each team will play against two schools from the opposite conference, and the conference with the best overall record ‘wins’ the Invitational.
The Metro Invitational annually serves as a kick-off event for schools embarking on another high school hockey season.
The top performers over the weekend will be named to the “All-Metro Team” – three forwards, two defensemen, and one goalie will be selected at the conclusion of the tournament, and receive gift cards from HockeyDeals.com for their effort. Each player will receive a tournament gift from Contemporary Industries, and Plymouth Physical Therapy is providing on-site athletic trainers for the weekend. Players will enjoy complimentary food from Tony Sacco’s on Friday and Pizza Marvelous on Saturday.
If you wish to attend the event, passes are on sale at Novi Ice Arena – $12 for adults, and $9 for kids (5-18 years old) and seniors, with kids under age 5 getting in free. Single-day tickets will be sold at the door – $7 for adults, and $5 for seniors and kids.
