The Grand Rapids Griffins announced today that they have signed Jeff Lerg to a professional tryout deal, one of a few roster transactions on the day.

The AHL club released defenseman and Jackson native Jared Nightingale from his own pro tryout, while calling up Martin Frk from the Toledo Walleye.

Meanwhile, Petr Mrazek has been called back to the Detroit Red Wings.

Lerg, a Livonia native, is currently tied for sixth among ECHL goaltenders with a 2.45 goals-against average. He holds a 24-7-2 record, along with a .917 save percentage and three shutouts. The Michigan State alum is in his first North American professional season since 2011 after spending three years competing in Europe.
