The Red Wings were waiting for an answer out of Daniel Alfredsson.
Sounds like they probably know his decision now.
TSN’s Darren Dreger and the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch have reported that Alfredsson will be announcing his retirement on Dec. 4 in Ottawa. The former Senators captain played 17 seasons in Ottawa before coming to Detroit for the 2013-14 season.

The Wings’ front office group were giving him the time necessary to decide if he wanted to return for a 19th NHL season.
Alfredsson, 41, played in 68 games with the Red Wings last year, recording 18 goals and 31 assists for 49 points. A back injury kept him off the ice to start the 2014-15 season.
