State titles won’t be decided for months, but it’s never too soon to start fighting for bragging rights.
This weekend, eight teams will invade Novi Ice Arena to compete in the 13th annual Metro High School Invitational.
In this year’s event, four Kensington Lakes Activities Association teams will once again compete against four schools from the Oakland Activities Association. Each team will play against two schools from the opposite conference, and the conference with the best overall record earns some bragging points. And we all know how important bragging rights can be.
The Metro Invitational annually serves as a kick-off event for schools embarking on another high school hockey season.
The top performers over the weekend will be named to the “All-Metro Team” – three forwards, two defensemen, and one goalie will be selected at the conclusion of the tournament, and receive gift cards from HockeyDeals.com for their effort. Each player will receive a tournament gift from Contemporary Industries, and Plymouth Physical Therapy is providing on-site athletic trainers for the weekend.
If you wish to attend the event, passes are on sale at Novi Ice Arena – $12 for adults, and $9 for kids (5-18 years old) and seniors, with kids under age 5 getting in free. Single-day tickets will be sold at the door – $7 for adults, and $5 for seniors and kids.
