After missing out on some free-agent defensive targets, the Red Wings have re-signed a polarizing player for the Hockeytown faithful.
The club officially announced today that they have re-signed defenseman Kyle Quincey to a two-year contract. While Detroit does not release contract information, TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported yesterday that the deal will pay Quincey an average of $4.25 million per season.
Quincey, 28, is in the midst of his second stint with the Red Wings; after being drafted by Detroit in 2003 and playing for the Wings’ organization from 2005-08, Quincey spent one year with Los Angeles and three years with Colorado before the Wings reacquired him via trade in the 2011-12 season.
Last year, Quincey played in all 82 contests for the Wings, recording four goals and nine assists, along with 88 penalty minutes. He was a -5 on the season.
