Welcome to MiHockey’s new feature ‘The Shift’ – hockey questions for hockey players. In each ‘The Shift’ feature, we take you through the mindset of today’s hockey player through a question-and-answer session, profiling players from the NHL all the way down to youth travel hockey.

Our next featured player is Holland native Zach Nagelvoort. The Compuware product is entering his second season between the pipes for the Michigan Wolverines. Last year, as a freshman, the 20-year-old ended up taking over between the pipes for Red Berenson’s squad, eventually playing in 24 games and recording a 11-9-3 record with a 2.20 goals-against average and .929 save percentage. That save percentage number is second on the school’s single-season record list, behind only to Shawn Hunwick’s .932 mark in the 2011-12 season. Nagelvoort’s impressive freshman season resulted in him hearing his name called at the NHL Draft, as well; Edmonton selected the Wolverines netminder in the 4th round (111th overall) this past June.
