The Michigan State Spartans had a big weekend against the Penn State Nittany Lions, and two of their best are getting rewarded for their play during the time frame.

Goaltender Jake Hildebrand was named the Big Ten’s first star of the week today, after helping MSU sweep Penn State last weekend. Meanwhile, forward Lee Reimer was named the league’s third star, after recording four points during the two games.

Hildebrand, a sophomore goaltender from Butler, Pa., stopped 77 of the 79 shots he faced on the weekend, good for a .975 save percentage. He set a career-high mark of 48 saves on Friday en route to his second shutout in the past four games. The next night, he stopped 29 to lead the Spartans to a 3-2 win. It’s his third Big Ten weekly award, and first since he was named first star on Dec. 31, 2013.

Reimer, a senior forward from Landmark, Manitoba, recorded a point on all three MSU goals Friday night, picking up one goal and two assists in the 3-0 win. He then scored the game-winner on Saturday, breaking a 2-2 tie in the third period. It’s his first Big Ten weekly award.
