Northern Michigan goaltender Mathias Dahlstrom and Michigan Tech forward Reid Sturos were recognized by the WCHA today for their outstanding play of the weekend.
Dahlstrom, a native of Smedjebacken, Sweden, gave up just two goals in the Wildcats’ road sweep at Bemidji State last week, which earned him the WCHA Men’s Defensive Player of the Week selection. The 6-foot, 175-pound freshman stopped 60 of the 62 shots he faced over the weekend, recording a .968 save percentage and four shutout periods.

Meanwhile, Huskies forward Reid Sturos recorded three points, five shots on goal and a +2 rating in MTU’s road split at Lake Superior State to earn him the WCHA Men’s Rookie of the Week nod.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound freshman right winger from South Lyon had three assists on the weekend, including setting up Tanner Kero’s game-winner on Saturday night. He entered the weekend with only one career point.
