The Muskegon Lumberjacks announced today that forward Matt Iacopelli has committed to Western Michigan University.
Iacopelli, a native of Brownstown, is beginning his first season with the Lumberjacks after playing for the Belle Tire Midget Major squad last year. Iacopelli recorded 26 goals and 22 assists in 44 Tier 1 games. He also played in four games with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League last season.
“I Feel great about making my choice to play for Western Michigan and I have never been more excited,” Iacopelli said in a release from the Lumberjacks. “I chose the school because of their great coaching staff and how they are able to develop their players for the next level. Also, the campus is close to home so my family and friends can watch me play frequently.”
Iacopelli recorded one goal and one assist in the Lumberjacks’ five preseason games this fall.
