Another big stage, another championship for Andrew Miller.
The Bloomfield Hills native led Cranbrook to back-to-back high school state titles in 2006 and 2007. And last night, he led Yale University to their first-ever NCAA national title.
After scoring the game-winning goal in overtime of the national semifinals, Yale’s senior captain had a goal and an assist in a 4-0 Yale win over in-state rival Quinnipiac last night at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
“It’s an honor to be in the NCAA tournament,” Miller said after Yale’s historic win. “You’ve got to play your game. We have some great players on our team. For all the guys that don’t get noticed, they’re our heroes. We don’t focus on one player, or one group of players. I think that’s a testament to our team. We work hard in practice and we work hard off the ice and I think that’s why we won the national championship.”
Six years after being named Michigan’s high school Mr. Hockey, Miller was named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. And in between those two awards, Miller was named USA Hockey’s Junior Player of the Year in 2009.
Miller will now graduate from Yale as a national champion, continuing to find success at every level of hockey.
“I think for everyone, it’s an honor to represent our school in the NCAA tournament. Winning the national title is an absolute team effort. Everyone played their hardest and competed their hardest. Bringing the national championship back to Yale is unbelievable.”
Miller was one of three Michigan natives on the Yale championship roster. Junior Clinton Bourbonais, a Dexter native and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s alum, scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal when he tipped a shot past Qunnipiac netminder Eric Hartzell with 3.5 seconds remaining in the second period to break a scoreless tie. Bourbonais joined Miller on the All-Tournament Team.
Meanwhile, freshman defenseman Ryan Obuchowski, a West Bloomfield native and Catholic Central alum, recorded two shots on goal and helped shut out top-seeded Quinnipiac in the title game.

Hi there! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing a few months of hard work due to no data backup.
Do you have any methods to protect against hackers?
