The Wolverines eliminated the Broncos Saturday night, while the Spartans, Bulldogs and Huskies all face Sunday night Game 3s.

Wolverines 5, Broncos 1

The winning ways of the Wolverines continued Saturday evening in Kalamazoo, and they’re heading to Joe Louis Arena because of it. The University of Michigan scored four goals in the second period to seize control of their Game 2 with Western Michigan, eliminating the Broncos from the CCHA playoffs in the process. Alex Guptill scored twice, while Kevin Lynch, Derek DeBlois and Andrew Sinelli also recorded goals for UM. Colton Hargrove potted the lone goal for the Broncos. Steve Racine stopped 22 shots to pick up yet another win for the Wolverines. Frank Slubowski and Lukas Hafner combined to stop 24 for the Broncos.

RedHawks 4, Spartans 1

The Miami RedHawks avoided elimination Saturday night, bouncing back from a Game 1 loss to the Spartans with a 4-1 win. Washington, Mich., native Austin Czarnik scored twice for the RedHawks, who evened the series with a 4-1 win. Cody Murphy and Jimmy Mullin added the other goals for Miami. Matt DeBlouw scored the lone goal for the Spartans early in the first period. A winner-take-all Game 3 will take place tonight in Ohio – puck drops at 7 p.m.

Buckeyes 3, Bulldogs 1

The Buckeyes also avoided elimination on Saturday, recording a 3-1 win over Ferris State at home. Ryan Dzingel, Max McCormick and Nick Oddo scored for Ohio State, while Brady Hjelle stopped 27 shots. Travis Ouellette had the lone goal for the Bulldogs. CJ Motte continued his outstanding play for Ferris State, stopping 35 of 38 shots.

Huskies 2, UND 1

The Michigan Tech Huskies found a way to win Game 2 against North Dakota on Saturday, keeping their playoff hopes alive. C.J. Eick scored with 2:02 left in regulation to give the Huskies a 2-1 win over No. 4 North Dakota late last night. Tanner Kero also scored for the Huskies, while Pheonix Copley stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced in the contest. The final game of the best-of-three takes place tonight, starting at 8:07 p.m.

Note – Notre Dame advanced to the CCHA Championship weekend at Joe Louis Arena with a sweep of Bowling Green.
