Congrats to former Red Wing Adam Oates, who is now officially a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Not bad.
Adam Oates joined Mats Sundin, Pavel Bure, and Joe Sakic in the 2012 Hockey Hall of Fame induction class last night. The four legendary players were formally welcomed into hockey’s elite last night. Here is Oates’ speech at the induction ceremony:
Speaking of hall-of-fame honors, did you hear that Mark Howe is one of eight former athletes to be entering the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame? Check out that link in the previous sentence to read about how he was a part of the first Junior A team to compete in the United States. The Grand Rapids Amateur Hockey Association is hosting a ‘Try Special Hockey for Free’ event on Sunday. Click here for more info…hopefully they get plenty of participants, because after all, hockey should be experienced by everyone.
The Whalers’ Tom Wilson is our Michi-gamer of the day after a huge hit on Nail Yakupov last night. I mean, you have to be pretty skilled to line up that guy.

Sidney Crosby spoke out about the lockout today, voicing frustration towards the owners. Know he’s not very well-liked in these parts, but he does hold some clout in the NHL. Probably wouldn’t hurt for him to be more involved in the process.
Blake Geoffrion had surgery yesterday, as doctors work to help him through a depressed skull fracture from a hit he suffered on Friday.
