The 2012 Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee Announcement will be aired today at 3:00 p.m. ET. on the NHL Network. Some of the first-year eligible players include Joe Sakic, Brendan Shanahan, Mats Sundin, Jeremy Roenick, Curtis Joseph, Gary Roberts and Claude Lemieux.

The Red Wings announced yesterday Jeff Blashill will be the Grand Rapids Griffins head coach next season. Blashill, an assistant coach for the Red Wings last season, replaces Curt Fraser, who accepted an assistant coach position with the Dallas Stars earlier this week.

The National Hockey League Players’ Association began its annual executive board meetings Monday to discuss labor negotiations. The current CBA agreement between the League and the NHLPA expires Sept. 15.

The Winnipeg Jets and goaltender Ondrej Pavelec reached a new five-year deal worth an average of $3.9 million annually, according to an NHL source.
