Bowling Green 3, Ferris State 2 (OT) – Bowling Green might be at it again. Fresh off their upset against Northern Michigan in the first round, they now hold a 1-0 series lead against top-ranked Ferris State. Camden Wojtala scored at the 17:09 mark of regulation to tie the game for the Falcons, and then 20:09 later, Ryan Carpenter scored the game-winning goal in overtime. The win puts Ferris State on the brink of elimination, with Game 2 coming tomorrow night. Kyle Bonis and Garrett Thompson scored for the Bulldogs, while Wojtala had both of BG’s regulation goals. Andrew Hammond had 54 saves in the win for Bowling Green, while Taylor Nelson stopped 31 for Ferris.

Michigan 2, Notre Dame 1 (Double OT) – Chris Brown broke a 1-1 tie three minutes into the second overtime to lift the Wolverines to a series-opening win. They went 82:03 minutes between goals; Luke Glendening scored 1:08 into the contest for Michigan’s lone goal in regulation. Western Michigan 4, Lake Superior 2 – Forward Ian Slater led the way for the Broncos, as they posted a series-opening 4-2 win over Lake Superior. Dane Walters and Mike Leone had the other goals for the Broncos, who move within one game of a trip to Joe Louis Arena. WMU freshman goaltender Frank Slubowski continued to build on his impressive rookie season, stopping 20 shots. Colin Campbell and Zach Sternberg scored for LSSU, while Kevin Kapalka made 29 saves in goal.

Miami 6, Michigan State 0 – The Spartans couldn’t find a way to crack goaltender Connor Knapp Friday night, as the senior goaltender led Miami to a convincing 6-0 win with 27 saves. Jimmy Mullin (2), Blake Coleman, Curtis McKenzie, and Chris Wideman all scored for the RedHawks, who have won seven straight games. Will Yanakeff and Drew Palmisano combined for 33 saves in the rough night for MSU.
