Well, it’s official. The Red Wings have finally lost a game at home, dropping a 4-3 shootout decision to the Vancouver Canucks last night. It’s safe to say that the 23-game home winning streak will stand in the NHL record books for quite some time. Vancouver’s Alex Burrows beat Jimmy Howard to clinch the shootout win for his squad.
Despite the loss, Justin Abdelkader’s third period tally kept the Wings in the hunt for the win late in the contest. Because of that, he’s our Michi-gamer of the night.

Outside the Mitten
The first big trade splash was made yesterday as the Los Angeles Kings picked up Jeff Carter from Columbus in exchange for former Michigan standout, Jack Johnson. Looks like Johnson will be playing a little closer to home.

Hockey is a game of sticking together. A 7-year-old Mite out of the Novi Youth Hockey Association named Anthony Salah and his family needs the help of the community. The youngster was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011 and is currently receiving treatment in Texas.
