Demi Crossman of the Honeybaked 19U Girls team was selected by USA Hockey to compete as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 team. Crossman, a forward, is one of 22 players that will compete in the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation U18 Women’s World Championship Dec. 31-Jan. 7 in Prerov and Zlin, Czech Republic.
Crossman, from Livonia, is a returning member to the team, having also competed in the 2011 Under-18 Series, a three-game stint against Canada last August in Rockland, Ont. Along with her teammates, Crossman will compete against teams from Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.
A Livonia Churchill junior, Demi is in her fourth season with the Honeybaked organization, following in the footsteps of her older sister Nanci. Nanci, a defenseman now playing at Finlandia University, is also a Honeybaked alum.
The IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship is in its fifth year; Team USA captured gold in each of the first two years of the tournament (2008, 2009) as well as last season (2011). To follow the team in the Czech Republic, check out the U.S. Women’s National Program blog by clicking here.
