Grand Haven keeps rolling

Last time Michigan Hockey checked in with Grand Haven high school’s varsity hockey team, they had posted their first win of the season.

Since then, they’ve added seven more. And they still haven’t lost yet.

Grand Haven’s 4-0 win against Grandville bumps their O-K Tier 1 conference record to 4-0 on the season. Overall, the Bucs are 8-0 in 2011.

Patrick Ferris, Tom Zelenka, Nathan Schmidt, and Doug Zelenka all scored for the Bucs in the conference victory over Grandville. Zach Kooi picked up his second shutout of the season in the win after making 14 saves.

On Dec. 21, the Bucs will take on Mona Shores Sailors in a conference rematch at Muskegon Lakeshore Arena. Grand Haven prevailed 2-1 in their first match-up of the year, on Dec. 14. Tyler Ploeg had both of the goals for the Bucs in the win, while Reed Hrynewich scored for Mona Shores.
