16U Icebreakers win Thanksgiving Tourney

The U16 Michigan Icebreakers from Suburban Farmington won the Thanksgiving Motown Cup a few weeks ago. The team faced two teams from Colorado – the Colorado Selects and the Colorado Stars – and the Livonia Knights.

The Icebreakers went undefeated in pool play and the championship game pitted the Icebreakers against the Colorado Stars.   The championship game featured great team play from the Icebreakers, including outstanding goaltending from the tournament’s MVP, Hannah Fremd.

The Icebreakers are Bryn Birchler, Katie George, Maddy Stichaller, Kylie Armstrong, Riley Collins, Sam Fortune, Allison Lowe, Leah Elkins, Alex Strohm, Mamie Talty, Jenna Taylor, Emilee Fremd, Hannah Fremd, Bree Tasker and Catie Karpinski.  The team is coached by Russ Taker, with assistant coaches Phil Taylor, Tim Talty and Sam Jenkins.
