Shaved Ice – Oct 31

Happy Halloween, everybody. Hope you get to celebrate by spending the night at a hockey rink. Or by Trick-or-Treating, obviously (save me some candy if you’re going out).

Quick hits

I spent the weekend driving around the state, taking in some of the best hockey we have to offer in the Mitten. Thursday I was at Yost, watching the Wolverines record the first of back-to-back wins against Ferris State. Friday I checked in at The Joe, only to watch the Wings continue their losing streak (about time they get out of that one, eh?). And on Saturday, I headed out to Munn to see the Spartans wrap up a weekend sweep of Robert Morris. Follow the links I placed in those sentences to see how all the major teams across the state performed this weekend.

As far as Sunday goes, let’s face it, we were all watching the Lions take care of business against Tim Tebow and the Broncos. Also, all the major teams had the night off, so there isn’t really anything to report on.

Highlight reel

Here’s a Hockey Night in Canada opening video – Halloween style. And it’s awesome.

Outside the Mitten

There was a whole lot of NHL hockey this weekend, so I’m going to give you some quick hits, and direct you over to NHL.com if you really want to see every score.

The Edmonton Oilers have moved into first place in the Western Conference. I double-checked that, too.

Here’s Zdeno Chara in a giant pink bunny costume. Scary stuff.

Former Red Wing and fashion magazine intern Sean Avery is expected to be put on waivers by the Rangers today.

Next up

Maybe I’ll write about Halloween more tomorrow. Tomorrow night the Red Wings get back to the grind, we’ll be there to bring you all the action.
