Shaved Ice – Oct. 27

Quick hits

Last night was the first of a few battles between the two OHL teams lucky enough to call Michigan home. The Whalers prevailed 3-2 over rival Saginaw, led by some of their NHL-drafted stars. Stefan Noesen had the game-winner, in a game where the Whalers overcame one-goal deficits two different times. Rickard Rakell and J.T. Miller also scored for Plymouth, who improved to 7-5-2-0 on the season.  Jamie Oleksiak and Vincent Trocheck scored for the Spirit, who are now 5-9-0-0.

Highlight reel

If you haven’t seen it yet, I suspect that your computer/smartphone/iPad has been living under a rock lately, but nonetheless, here’s the new Red Wings commercial. Pretty funny, if you don’t mind me saying.

Outside the Mitten

Only three NHL games last night, here’s what the scores were:

  • Montreal 5, Philadelphia 1
  • Calgary 4, Colorado 2
  • St. Louis 3, Vancouver 0

Against his wife’s wishes, Jimmy Howard came prepared for a delivery during a routine check-up this week. Turns out the Wings’ goalie was right to prepare. Read more about it here.

Next up

I’m off to Yost tonight to see two Top-10 collegiate teams in action. So you should be hearing from me again later tonight. Have a great day.
